Full Potential #14- Balance

Whats up everyone!? I hope all is going well and that things are going your way! This month's blog is a big one about BALANCE. It has taken me a little longer on this one to really think deep about this topic and what to talk about. Feel free to check out previous blogs, share with friends. My goal is still to start writing two blogs a month and reach as many people as I can, so I can help as many people as possible. Let's get started on taking another step closer to reaching your

FULL POTENTIAL!!

BALANCE

Balance. Different for everyone but one of the most challenging things to do for most. Many of the questions that people ask are "what is the balance between working hard and having fun? What's a good mix of work and home life? Or am I too focused and burning myself out on what I'm doing"? I will be honest, there is no good answer for everyone for these questions. So I hope some of my tips and advice help you decide what is a good balance for YOU! I mean you, because everyone is different when it comes to balance and what they want to achieve. I struggle with balance as well. When should I put in extra time or when should I relax? So, one of the first tips I recommend to help you balance things in your life is make a list of what are the most important things in your life. List them from most important to least. Why? I want you to see and focus on what you really want out of your life and what makes you the happiest. Take a look at your list and think about the amount of time you spend on each of those things. For example, if family is your number one thing make sure you spend the most time on that one then spend the second most time on the second thing on your list. This will help you be happier and make you realize you are doing the things that make you the happiest. Second thing is be organized and make a list of what you need to get done first before doing things that you like for fun. I call this the "take care of your business before having fun list". Long title but is what it sounds like. To help balance things, make sure you take care of your business things first like homework, getting all work done before you get home, or just preparing for the next day. Why? Once you knock out this list then do things that make you feel relaxed and happy. That way you don't have to worry about doing something and you aren't thinking about that stuff so you can truly relax. Another simple but disciplined way of being organized and keeping a well balanced life is to plan out your day. Now I am super bad about this and something I want to really focus on and get better at. But plan out what you have to do that day, what you should do that day and what you want to do that day. Do the what you have to do's, then should and then wants. Take care of business but also plan those things you want to do out and do them. A planner is a great start to this and someone who I am close to is helping me do this and I owe her a big thanks, because it is helping me a lot even if I don't do it all the time. Baby steps. Organize your life out and what you want from it. Make a plan of attack, then act on it.

Next, what is a good way of finding balance on working hard or relaxing at times? This really depends on the person and what the person wants. Some people hit their craft non-stop and that's all they do but they also love it. Some people like having more "fun" and take care of their business and don't do extra. I'll be honest, to be the best at something you do, you have to be obsessed with it and love it. But that isn't for everyone. So be honest with yourself, do you want to be the best? Do you want to be average? Or are you happy with what you do? Be honest with yourself and think about what you really want. Not what others want but what you want, then you make your balance of how you feel. If you feel like you want to work on something non-stop then do it, if you want to relax some then do it. But make a good balance for YOU! Don't spread yourself to thin, but at the same time expand your comfort zone each day. That is how you grow..

Make a list of what is most important to you, make a take care of business list, plan out your days, and have a planner. Do the things that make you happy. Do not spread yourself to thin but expand and branch out to grow. When you have a hard time thinking about what you should do and how to balance, just take a step back and think about what you need to do and what you want to do. Everyone is different so think about what is right for YOU!!!
